Bilingual Labor Relations Manager

A well-established grower/shipper/packer is searching for a Labor Relations Manager to join their team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrate our client’s three collective bargaining agreements: United Farm Workers, United Food and Commercial Workers, General Teamsters.
Work with the assigned business agents concerning the three collective bargaining agreements on any issue that may arise during the life of the contract. That would include health insurance, assignments of duties, grievances, seniority issues, enforcement of work, health and safety rules.
Respond to all grievances and work with the union business agent to persevere to reach a resolution.
When a grievance proceeds into an arbitration work with counsel, provide research, witnesses, documentation and testimony.
Provide guidance to field supervision in the administration and enforcement of work, health and safety rules.
Provide counseling and guidance to management and unit workers one on one when necessary.
Protect any employee and their identity when disclosure could cause harm or damage their reputation or working relationship.
Prepare and distribute all federal, state and other postings to all operations in the company and enforce retention and availability for all employees.
Provide annual reports to Environmental Health Department in all aspects of our ranch properties, chemical inventories, and management personnel.
Oversee and enforce the trash and recycling programs. This includes a personal weekly audit over all field operations.
Budget and carry out the safety bar-b-que program for field operations biannually.
Investigate all vehicle accidents that occur. Prepare a report and provide all necessary information for our carrier to fulfill its duty both honestly and expeditiously.
Carry out the annual DOT drug-testing program. Work with the clinic, laboratory, medical review officer and Highway Patrol.
Provide annual reports to the Federal Department of Labor on the number of employees, number of injuries and number of man hours worked
Skills and Qualifications:
BA/BS in Ag Econ, Ag Business Management, Business Administration
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Experience working in a union environment a plus
Minimum 5-7 years of proven management experience in Labor Relations in an agricultural environment (harvesting and field operations).
Must be an effective hands-on manager capable of resolving organizational, training, communication, and interpersonal problems that may arise.
