Buyer/Ingredient/Packaging – California

An established food manufacturing organization is seeking an experiences Buyer to join their team in CA. The Buyer will be responsible for procuring goods that meet the company’s specific levels of quality, delivery, and total cost for operation support. The buyer is organized, has a sense of urgency, and can function in a fast pace environment. The buyer is flexible with working on the weekend as needed and may require some seasonal overtime. The buyer is well verse in food ingredients and packaging.
Maintains raw material inventory targets while achieving forecasted production requirements and department KPI’s.
Reviews, interprets, implements and communicates material supply forecast to suppliers and co-manufactures.
Ensure all suppliers have consistent forecast visibility and adequate capacity.
Create and manage purchase orders and subsequent deliveries. To include shipment reconciliations, back orders, damaged goods and invoice discrepancies.
Collects, maintains, and publishes supplier performance metrics including participating in regular supplier business reviews.
Actively participates in the RFQ, negotiation, and management of supplier agreements – covering cost, quality, and delivery terms.
Establish and maintain positive relationship with suppliers and internal stakeholders in support of departmental and company oriented goals and objectives.
Act as primary liaison between cross-functional partners, plants, and suppliers to ensure supply plan requirements are being met and resolve supply, quality and cost issues.
Drives the identification and implementation of cost reduction opportunities/ savings projects.
Ensure material specifications are correct and clear for suppliers and the Quality Department.
Work with cross functional teams to ensure new item and BOM setup.
Monitors the maintenance of records regarding pricing, ordering of materials, supplier qualification and certification documents.
Leads and/or participates in a variety of department related projects.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
Detail oriented, ability to manage multiple projects and daily tasks in fast pace environment.
Strong math skills and proficient in Microsoft Office with strong skills in MS Excel.
Must be skilled at data analysis, financial analysis, communication, understanding of BOM structures and have knowledge of supply chain management.
Strong working knowledge of JDE preferred or SAP.
Specific experience required in fundamentals of material requirement planning (MRP) in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience
