Director of Fresh-Cut Operations in the Midwest

A strong and growing produce processor is seeking a Director of Fresh-Cut for their operations to oversee the fresh cut processing and other preparation of value added fruit and vegetable products, satisfying production, profitability, and other company objectives established by the owners.
Production Management: Manage production supervisors to assure that high quality products are produced in the most cost-efficient manner while meeting profitability and availability standards.
Procurement: Coordinate the purchase of fresh product with buyers, spec and purchase products unique to the processing function, all packaging materials and all equipment necessary for process. Establish and maintain all contracts for the purchase of fresh product for processing and all supplies and services necessary for the operation of the processing facility.
Inventory Control: Manage the inventory of raw product, packaging materials, and finished product.
Sanitation, Food Safety, Quality Assurance: Establish and monitor production methods in accordance with all applicable state, federal, and local laws.
Sales: Work with the sales and marking departments to develop strategies regarding new product development, pricing, modifications to existing product recipes, cuts, packing, etc., and further promotion of processed product to current and potential customer base.
Facility and Equipment Management: Develop and monitor schedules for the maintenance and cleaning of the processing facility and the processing equipment. Manage direct report(s) responsible for this function.
Cost Analysis: Develop and maintain records for the costing of all products produced in the processing facility.
Develop production, labor, and other budgetary standards against which the performance and profitability of the processing department can be measured.
At least 5-10 years successful experience as a top director or manager of a significant fresh cut facility. A related bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, common E-mail systems, and ERP systems such as Produce Pro.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus, oral and written.
