West Coast Farm Manager – California

We are working with a well-established Grower/Shipper that is searching for a Farm Manager to join their team in CA.

The Farm Manager is responsible for the development & production of our client’s farm operations ensuring economic & strategic success. The role contributes to innovative and sustainable agronomy farming systems and environmentally safe agriculture practices / methods for growing quality vegetables year-round.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, with hands-on involvement, all farming activities, including irrigation, land prep, nutrient management and pesticide applications, disease management, plant rotation and harvesting
  • Work with Harvest, Operations (non-harvest) and Production Services for respective service.
  • Develop and implement program, in coordination with the Pesticide Control Adviser.
  • Document application and results.
  • Develop and implement program to optimize plant health.
  • Document application and results. Using medium (including any solid or liquid designed to support plant growth) sample, test and analyze results to determine course of action.
  • Responsible for compliance with any government requirements.
  • Understand and encourage beneficial microbes to the root zones of plants enabling healthy, vibrant root systems that directly translates to higher nutrient absorption and optimal yields.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for optimum soil health.
  • Determine and manage how growth medium responds to scientific management techniques thereby implementing it based on the results.
  • Apply agricultural data and information into trends, reportable, actionable and sustainable methods.
  • Ensure quality growth medium with the ability to identify contaminated or degraded growth medium production.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and computer skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication and follow-up skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple competing projects
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
