Farm Manager – Southeast

A well-established grower/shipper/packer is searching for a Farm Manager to join their team. The Farm Manager will manage all phases of farming operations for maximum efficiency and profitability be is responsible for overseeing the operations and assist local management for all related operations.
Provide leadership and direction for the farm through daily coordination of all activities and employees.
Help in the agronomic, personnel, and equipment planning process of the farm’s operations by working with the Director of Operations, Regional Agronomy Manager, and agronomy consultant on a management plan for the year. Assist accounting team in budgeting process by being knowledgeable on local business and agronomic requirements.
Procure top quality land by renting the appropriate amount and working with the Land Partners on leases and follow-ups as needed.
Purchase necessary inputs by dealing with local vendors. Assist Director of Operations and Agronomy Team in bidding process for fertilizer and chemicals.
Assume responsibility for all farm operations, including: seed handling, land preparation, planting, fertilizing, scouting, irrigation, spraying, and harvesting. Be familiar with crop stages, growth habits, and irrigation requirements.
Take a lead role in assuring all field-related activities comply with Global GAP. Maintain records in accordance with the company’s policies. Assure fields, and farming practices, lead to successful Global GAP Certification.
Assist with scheduling spraying operations with agronomist for optimum timing.
Direct all operations of harvest. Communicate with the Sales Department on a regular basis to provide timely information regarding quality, yield inventory, and loading capabilities. Become familiar with maintenance and operation of the grading line and the field harvest machinery.
Assist in field research through research objectives, site selection, and by providing personnel and equipment on a timely basis.
Provide leadership and direction for all farm employees, both seasonal and full time, through proper hiring, supervision, and employee retention methods. Develop an employee rotational work schedule to meet time off recommendations to optimize employee performance and safety. Create a positive work environment through constructive training and employee respect.
