Farm Manager – Southeast

A well-established grower/shipper/packer is searching for a Farm Manager to join their team. The Farm Manager will manage all phases of farming operations for maximum efficiency and profitability be is responsible for overseeing the operations and assist local management for all related operations.
Provide leadership and direction and coordination of all activities and employees.
Help in the agronomic, personnel and equipment planning process of the operations by working with the Group Manager, Group Manager Agronomist, Regional Agronomist, and consultant agronomist on a management plan for the year. Assist CFO in budgeting process by being knowledgeable on local business and agronomic requirements.
Procure top quality land by renting the appropriate amount and working with the Land Partners on leases and follow-ups as needed.
Purchase necessary inputs by dealing with local vendors. Assist East Coast Group Manager and Agronomy Group Manager in bidding process for fertilizer and chemicals.
Assume responsibility for all operations including seed handling, land preparation, planting, fertilizing, scouting, irrigation (if applicable), spraying and harvesting. Be familiar with crop stages, growth habits and irrigation requirements.
Coordinate with the agronomist on scheduling spraying operations for optimum timing.
Direct all operations of harvest. Communicate with Sales on a regular basis to provide timely information as per quality, yield inventory and loading capabilities. Become familiar with maintenance and operation of the grading line and the field harvest machinery.
Assist agronomist and agronomy group manager with field research through research objectives, site selection, and by providing personnel and equipment on a timely basis.
Assist with proper record keeping in such areas as machine maintenance, seed, fertilizer, and chemical applications, employee timekeeping and bill coding.
Work with Group Manager and Service Teams to make sure we are in compliance with all government regulations by following all DOT, pesticide reporting, licensing, GlobalGAP certification, etc., guidelines as required.
