Our well-established agriculture client is seeking a highly-motivated Farm/Field Manager with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary Research Team. This Manager will have the opportunity to work in all operations related to field trials, seed preparation, field plot management, data collection, harvesting, trial plots, and will assist in all phases of a breeding program.
Work with onsite teams to develop and manage an annual station budget that supports research and production goals and objectives. Will be the implementation lead for all station budget activities.
Maintain the facility and work with current personnel to ensure safe and efficient operating tractors, combines, planters, and other miscellaneous research equipment.
Manage various station operations including field management, sowing, agronomic care of crops, implementation of pest/disease control regiment, and all harvest activities.
Perform safety inspections, and assist in providing safety training and guidance to field personnel.
Supervision, management, and training of temporary employees
Coordinate and facilitate adequate labor to accomplish research goals.
Ability to communicate and interact with other research personnel, both at this and other research locations
Maintain current facility and overseeing future expansion projects.
Negotiate with vendors and various contractors for facility services
Assist in other projects and perform other duties as and when required
10% Overnight Travel

BS degree in Agronomy or related field.
Demonstrated ability to manage personnel and site operations.
Ability to work extended hours during the peak planting and harvest seasons and in adverse weather conditions.
Must be able to work independently and must also be a team player.
Ability to work with diverse group of employees, identify strengths, and areas that may need help to develop.
Demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize tasks.
Must be able to communicate effectively, exercise good judgment, and be organized.
Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices as well as farm equipment operation and repair
English required, bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators license upon or required within 6 months of hire date
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications upon or required within 6 months of hire date
Experience utilizing MS Word and MS Excel to facilitate communication and record-keeping
Ability to identify processes and operations that could be improved in terms of efficiency with either new technology or ideas.
