Food Safety and Organic Compliance Manager – California

This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and directing all Food Safety and Organic Integrity programs. This person would oversee multiple teams and will be responsible to train, motivate, and develop those team members. This role will also partner with outside agencies to ensure the highest standards in Organic Integrity and Food Safety.
Manage the Organic Integrity ,Sanitation, and Food Safety departments
Prepare training material and deliver trainings when necessary
Keep up to date on industry and legislative trends as pertains to organic and food safety regulations
Develop, write, and implement all organic protocols and food safety programs for the company (including but not limited to HACCP, GFSI, GMP, and other certification programs)
Ensure compliance with applicable agencies (CCOF, PRIMUS, USDA, FDA, etc.)
Review and make changes to programs if necessary
Have an open and effective channel of communications with government officials, customers, and executive team
Must stay up to date and knowledgeable in all government, state, and local policies as it relates to Food Safety and organic production
Manage special projects by coordinating with other departments (i.e. Production, Engineering, Maintenance, etc.)
Creating and maintaining budgets for departments while being able to identify and improve areas of cost waste.
Other duties as required
5 or more years of experience in a Food Safety Manager or Technologist, Lab Manager, or Technical Services Manager role
Minimum of a B.S. degree with an emphasis in Food Science, Microbiology, or related science discipline required
Laboratory and Technical auditing experience required. Organic auditing and regulatory knowledge a strong plus
Excellent organizational management skills
Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
Excellent time management skills with strong ability to lead, plan, and manage change and culture
