The primary role of this position is to ensure compliance with all relevant Regulatory Requirements and Guidelines, ensure compliance with all Customer Expectations and Internal Quality and Food Safety Standards and Policies along with on-going staff training and support.  The nature of this position requires flexibility and the ability to embrace change.  The Food Safety and Quality Manager must be highly self-motivated and exemplify the ability to work effectively as a team player, with the ability to interact across departmental and cross-functional departmental boundaries, minimizing conflict and maximizing continuous improvement and food safety attention to detail.  This position will develop and oversee all of the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures, and provide on-going staff training and support. The successful candidate will facilitate the development, implementation and enforcement of security and food safety standards, policies, and programs including HACCP, GFSI, RTE, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), product inspections, and standardized work instructions. May also work with suppliers to ensure compliance with standards and food safety laws.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Specific Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:


  • Develop and maintain documentation such as SOP’s and HACCP/HARPC plans, as well as maintenance of manuals, policies and procedures related to food safety quality
  • Update existing food safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements
  • Develop/revise food safety program and provide training to meet food safety and quality requirements
  • Conduct facility food safety audits as well as manage third party audits on an as-needed basis
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet food safety and product quality standards.
  • Assist supply chain area with developing supplier approval processes and educating suppliers to ensure compliance, including performing in-country, on-site audits (FSVP).
  • Maintain all supplier documentation, including suppliers of commodities, ingredients and packaging.
  • Work closely with plant and quality assurance leadership and teams on any food safety or quality assurance issue
  • Oversee proper sanitation of all facility to comply with food safety requirements
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times
  • Conduct annual mock recalls per customer specifications
