Established organic and conventional grower/shipper/packer seeks a Food Safety Manager to continue their excellent food safety practices and expand their commitment to a safe, sustainable food supply.
Food safety comes first – and they have developed policies and procedures to achieve this goal. They supply vegetables to some of biggest and best customers in the United States and strictly adhere to their food safety programs. They also meet LGMA and GFSI standards.
The Food Safety Manager (FSM) will be located at their new facility in the Santa Barbara / Ventura Counties area of Southern California. The FSM will report directly to the President and have primary responsibility for the entire food safety program for the new facility. The FSM will also have partial responsibility over the food safety program for the field operations with the goal of taking over total responsibility of company wide food safety programs.
Implementing and managing existing food safety policies and procedures;
Developing, implementing and managing all records and systems for food safety and traceability programs;
Serving as primary contact and having total responsibility for conducting all internal, customer, governmental and/or third party audits and inspections;
Developing, implementing and managing all systems related to maintaining LGMA, GFSI, HACCP, FSMA and customer certifications;
Provide leadership in identifying, then implementing and managing, all systems for 100% governmental compliance with FSMA, food facility registrations, foreign supplier verification, and other required programs;
Overseeing proper maintenance and sanitation of the facility to comply with food safety policies;
Developing and maintaining training for all staff regarding food safety programs;
Implementing and managing existing organic certification policies and procedures and take primary responsibility for maintaining organic certifications;
The FSM will need to be a leader who can work alone and also work as a team member with executive management, sales staff and production personnel.
Strong skills in data collection, management and organization
Proficient with computers and analytical operations.
College degree in Food Science or related fields AND 3-5 years’ experience in:
(a) food safety within agriculture and/or food facilities;
