West Coast Key Grower Account Manager – California

This company is looking for a skilled Key Grower Account Manager to oversee key client and grower accounts. You will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining long term key growers by understanding their needs, cropping practices and cultural systems including chemical and biological portfolio needs.

The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with strategic growers by identify and understanding how products fit into their crop management system.

The goal is to contribute to sustainable agriculture and mutually grow both the grower and the business to achieve long-term success.  The position will be based in California with key focus areas in Trees, Nuts, Vines, and Veggies.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Developing trusted relationships and provide agronomic support with a portfolio of major growers to ensure growth and development for the company.
  • Acquiring a thorough understanding of key grower needs, cropping practices and requirements in this competitive environment.
  • Maintain a thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of brand products and crop management systems
  • Leverage biological portfolio product knowledge for training seminars.
  • Effectively collaborate with a team of other Product Development Managers, Marketing and Sales Representatives to maximize services, information, and sales to preferred accounts who want extensive technical/agronomic expertise.
  • Assist in successful product development initiatives.
  • Expanding relationships with existing customers and growers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives and benefit their crop management system.
  • Ensure the correct products and services are delivered to customers in a timely manner
  • Serve as the link of communication between key customers and internal teams
  • Resolve any issues and problems faced by customers and deal with complaints to maintain trust
  • Play an integral part in generating new sales that will turn into long-lasting relationships
  • Train and inform key decision makers within customer organization charts.
  • Prepare regular reports of progress and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders using key account metrics, including CRM and business tools
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelors in Agribusiness, Agriculture, agronomy relevant field – PhD preferred
  • Years of experience: 5 years or more proven experience as a key account manager with large growers
  • Experience in sales, marketing and proven solution-based answers to customer needs
  • Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Interpersonal skills required to communicate, advise, negotiate or influence others, as well as, build productive working relationships in various settings.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Planning skills required to organize, prioritize, schedule and coordinate work activities for multiple projects. Must be skilled in MS Office suite. 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods. Utilizing extensive use of computer, keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Ability to drive a vehicle for extended period of times to different locations.

Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

May also be required to work in a venue such as a hotel or other organization’s meeting room, conference, or convention space with the possible inclusion of weekends.

Overnight travel to annual meetings/conferences (up to 7 consecutive days) required; overnight travel to other meetings (typically 1-5 consecutive days); inclusion of weekends may be involved.

Ability to walk in and around agricultural production sites to evaluate pest populations and crop conditions in all weather conditions.

 Mental Requirements:

Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in workload priorities, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Travel:

Ability to travel routinely domestically 25% – 50% of the time by various modes of both private and commercial transportation.
