West Coast PLC Maintenance Technician – California

The PLC maintenance technician will undertake the responsibility of preserving the good condition and functionality of the facility premises while working autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines.

The PLC maintenance technician will be responsible for developing, modifying, and programming a wide variety of PLCs and panel views as well as providing technical support to production personnel.

Essential Functions and Duties

  •  Troubleshoot and repair PLC controls from electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Basic programming of PLC’s.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic machines from hydraulic schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic equipment from pneumatic schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial refrigeration units from flow and electrical schematics.
  • Make basic onboard electronic repairs.
  • Rebuild and repair mechanical machinery.
  • Weld and fabricate different metals for maintenance work orders.
  • Operate mills, lathes, and other machine shop tools.
  • Troubleshoot equipment over the phone with manufacturing technicians.
  • Must take the lead in being a positive team player.

 Essential Skills and Requirements 

  • Knowledge of best practices for areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of company policies.
  • Knowledge of project planning.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental issues related operations.
  • Verbal and written skills necessary to perform job effectively.
  • Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions.
  • Ability to take on short notice assignments and meet close deadlines

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in technical field with 10 years’ experience, journeyman card with 10 years experiences in field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • This position requires a minimum of 10 years in skilled trades with at least 10 years troubleshooting advanced controls (PLC’s).

Work Environment

This job operates in a heavy industrial pack house. This role routinely uses heavy duty equipment and is required to possess the knowledge to do this safely.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
