The Production Supervisor is responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including: Scheduling (people and product), manufacturing, maintenance, receiving, and order preparation. Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring and training personnel in area of responsibility. They will work closely with the support teams (QA, Ops) to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation. The production supervisor must have at least 2 years of progressive experience in a high touch food manufacturing environment, and 1 as a production supervisor. Experience in managing dairy production, artisanal cheese, cottage cheese or goat cheese manufacturing highly desired.
The production supervisor must be adaptable, flexible and innovative in order to be ready to take up the challenge of adapting the organization and their team to absorb a significant month-to-month growth (new retailers, new products). Must be able to support a 24/7 operation.

Supervise the daily shift operations of the almond milk, cheese or bottling process to ensure production schedules and quality parameters are met.
Work closely with quality assurance to review product consistency to reduce customer complaints while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement including minimizing rework needs.
Manage production schedules to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
Participate in the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel. Determine and schedule daily manpower needs to maximize labor efficiency and ensure production needs are met. Schedule work assignments, vacations and days off for team members. Verify labor hours and time punch accuracy.
Maintain Inventory levels and control flow of product
Maintain and support a superior food safety process and follow/improve the sanitation program.
Manage key processing indicators, to measure actual performance and lead the action plans to improve it.
Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all operations employees. Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment. Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.
Manage new product or equipment installations and startups.
2 years progressive experience in a food manufacturing facility (ideally cheese, at least comparable in terms (fermentation, ready-to-eat, high touch), at least 1 as a key leader of the manufacturing organization.
Hands on/roll up your sleeves management balanced by the capacity to let the team deliver when appropriate.
Excited by coaching, building and shaping a diverse team of individuals.
Collaborative style, willing to work with a cross-functional team to achieve plant-wide goals and initiatives and minimize conflicts.
Previous experience using continuous improvement tools
Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and graphs to analyze data and trends.
Strong organizational skills with regards to completeness of paperwork, time-planning and process. Ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
Previous experience and good understanding of PLC systems, and process automation.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering in order to reduce equipment downtime.
Demonstrated leadership in front-line supervisory skills, safety and employee development.
Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability. A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible. Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to work with teams and lead decisionmaking processes in a team environment. Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Operations, Engineering, Food Science or equivalent industry experience.
