Responsible for supporting and contributing to the overall Quality Assurance and Food Safety Programs under the Technical Services Manager.  Responsibilities include enforcing the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), executing production line checks, filing out appropriate paperwork efficiently and correctly and any other projects as assigned.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain QA line checks for production runs, including assuring product is within specifications, correct code dates, correct label placement.
  • Ability to work with laboratory chemicals to conduct various titrations and analysis.
  • Responsible for helping in the maintenance of the QA lab which includes cleaning, organizing, and inventory.
  • Effectively work with production personnel to aid in the overall goals of the company, including maintaining GMP’s, assure product is produced and released within specification.
  • Ensure Food Safety and Work Instructions/ Procedure training is followed accordingly to comply with regulatory & Safe Quality Food (SQF)
  • Comply with all company, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), HACCP, and SQF regulations.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing the Good Manufacturing Practice’s (GMP’s) across the company.
  • Aid with all QA functions of checks during milling season.
  • Maintain professional attitude in line with company Mission Statement and be a positive representative of the company
  • All other duties assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks on time as directed.
  • Experience with chemical titrations.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical safety and how to use in various titrations.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft office.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in production manufacturing/ research environment with potential rotating shift schedule. This will include days, nights, weekdays, and weekends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four year science related degree a plus, or showing that degree is in process.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
  • Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess mobility to work in a food manufacturing facility vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone.  This is a primary food manufacturing facility classification, commonly standing in work areas.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.   This position requires standing, sitting, walking, push, pull and reaching.  Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, up to 40 pounds, as necessary to perform job functions. Ability to regularly lift loads up to 40lbs, occasionally maneuver loads up to 50 lbs, rarely maneuver loads up to 60 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Regularly working in a temperature controlled room (62°F to 78°F).  During harvest season environment may experience very hot or cold temperatures and humidity.
