Senior Food Scientist – Oregon

Food Scientist are drivers of new product development. This individual will provide technical expertise and leadership to functional groups across all companies to achieve business objectives. Individual will serve as a technical expert in identifying business opportunities, to execute trials, and to effectively launch new product from concept to commercialization.
Essential Job Functions:
Participate in the innovation process for new idea generation.
Drive innovation from internal and external sources to achieve company’s strategic plan.
Develop project timelines and individual projects assigned.
Explore alternative approaches to achieve higher margins on new product opportunities.
Develop new products and formulations from idea through commercialization.
Document and maintain product and processing specifications.
Interaction with Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Purchasing for approval on new formulations and preparation of finished product specifications, analytical results and costings.
Consistently represents the R&D group in a positive professional manner, exemplifying Good Manufacturing Practices and consistently demonstrates personally safe work habits and promotes like behavior in other personnel and outside contacts.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Food Technology, Food Science or related field
3+ years of experience in new product development
Commercialization experience preferable.
2+ years in the meat processing industry.
Meat Science Background.
Understanding of food safety, food processing and food regulations and consumer insights.
Strong sense of urgency
Great collaborator and previous experience working on, or leading cross-functional teams
Strategic thinking ability and strong analytical capability and project management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, highly collaborative
Strong Knowledge/understanding of the various aspects of food manufacturing within further processing operations
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.
