Senior Production Planner – California

The Senior Production Planner is responsible for production planning and coordinates production workflow for multiple products while prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay. Will take a lead role in continuous improvement, product flow and capacity improvement to improve the overall efficiency of manufacturing.
Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops Long Term Strategic Production Plans with the assistance of Sales, Field and Supply Chain.
Utilizing Sales Forecasts sets 12-18 month rolling capacity schedule for both operations.
Maintain finished goods inventory at safety stock target levels to ensure continuous supply to customers.
Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine best practices in the manufacturing operations.
Manage the planning and preparations of the weekly production schedules.
Works with Field and Supply Chain to determine daily incoming raw material needs.
Manage raw material levels to meet company requirements of 72 hours, ensuring plants operate on a FIFO basis
Plan and direct Production and Inventory Control for Operations to ensure customer commits and Inventor objectives are met
Coordinate Operations planning process to ensure that there is material and capacity available to support both Customer commits and forecast
Direct the Inventory team to ensure that process controls are in place that will allow accurate Cycle counting
Coordinate production team to ensure schedule and customer deliveries are met. Work directly with Purchasing to ensure purchased material is available to meet the scheduled requirements
Stay current with software development, provide on-site technical expertise for the ERP system and write ad-hoc reports as required
Identify software procedural improvements to the Operations process to eliminate waste
Relay relevant information to management regarding material shortages, potential schedule interruptions, and possible equipment maintenance that would affect a smooth and timely production input
Analyze customer demand information, forecast, orders, labor, and material availability and develop a flexible yet efficient master schedule • Review part availability including quality approval prior to scheduling
In depth knowledge of MRP and ERP systems
5 + years in material planning in a processing environment
APICS certification a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or the equivalent of 5 years in manufacturing operations, including manufacturing systems, product costing and planning preferred
Proven experience in a senior planning role
Quality control process knowledge
