A well-established grower/shipper/packer is searching for a Sustainability Manager to join their team. The Sustainability Manager will develop and execute sustainability strategies that place the company as an industry leader in the sustainability field by providing solutions to our customers in order to meet their objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the creation and execution of a sustainability plan. Regularly report on metrics and progress towards goals of the plan.
  • Communicate and work with leadership to create a sustainability vision for the company the encompasses people, profit, and the planet.
  • Research sustainability issues, concerns, and customer objectives. Serve as the internal “go-to” expert on sustainability trends and policy changes.
  • Conduct analysis and measurement of sustainability initiatives to determine feasibility and cost. Develop a business case to address sustainability issues.
  • Drive sustainability projects. Ensure compliance with environmental, government, customer, and/or internal regulations. Collaborate with relative company departments (sales, agronomy, farms, etc.)
  • Conduct sustainability/environment/customer risk assessments. Work with appropriate departments/people internally that may currently handle sustainability related reporting/projects.
  • Serve as the point of contact for customers or other interested parties on issues related to sustainability initiatives. Serve as the internal and external spokesperson regarding sustainability.
  • Monitor and report on progress of sustainability initiatives.
  • Work with marketing director to effectively promote and market achievements.
  • Foster a culture of sustainability through company-wide training and education. Identify opportunities for education and training regarding sustainability. Create and conduct training related to sustainability.
  • Write project proposals, grant applications, R&D explanations to pursue funding for sustainability initiatives.

 Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience in Agriculture or Food and Beverage industry
