SUMMARY: Identifies and develops strategic vendor opportunities as well as building and nurturing existing relationships.  Works closely with internal business partners to forecast future needs and drive the strategy and selection of vendors. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.

  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies with a focus on building strong relationships with strategic suppliers
  • Analyze proposals and market information to determine reasonable prices
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to learn about new industry trends
  • Implement purchasing management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Represent the Company in formulating policies and agreements with suppliers
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier contracts
  • Review and evaluate specifications for issuing and awarding bids
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates Purchasing Department personnel
  • Prepare reports, as needed, regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.

Completes an appropriate volume of satisfactory work under normal conditions.   Produces results.

Completes assignments on or ahead of schedule.

ABILITY TO LEARN NEW DU­TIES

Interprets, learns and re­sponds to instructions for new situa­tions, procedures or methods.

JUDGEMENT and COM­MON SENSE

De­cisions/actions are sound including safety aware­ness and knowledge of customer base.

COOPERATION

Willing to work with others toward common goals.

COMMUNICATIONS

Demonstrates relevance and clarity of written and oral expression. Effective in exchanging ideas and information.

Ability to originate, develop or create new ideas or take steps to get things done.

Identifies and evaluates alternate solutions and selection of the most appropriate c­ourse of action.

ATTENDANCE and PUNCTUALITY

Shows daily ability to be at work at scheduled time, including being prepared to work on time after breaks, meal periods and other authorized absences from work.
