West Coast VP Of Operations – California

An established and growing food processor is seeking a talented VP of Operations that can assist them in their growth mode with supply chain, operational efficiencies, reporting, quality, food safety and in general leadership.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead production, quality, maintenance, and sanitation teams.
  • Establish short- and long-term production plans and strategies for the Company in collaboration with other members of the Executive Team.
  • Active participation in Senior Management team
  • Driving continuous improvement and Operational Excellence throughout the organization
  • Generate and manage annual Budget for the Operations department
  • Establish annual and monthly production objectives and operating budgets in support of the Company’s long-term strategic plans and provide ongoing forecasts of anticipated results
  • Manage departmental operating procedures, processes, and policies to achieve operating margin, delivery, and quality performance targets
  • Set appropriate metrics and measure ongoing operating results to proactively manage production processes and individual team member performance.
  • Leading capital projects and establishing a strong maintenance team.
  • Ensure all areas and personnel adhere to safe working practices and GMPs at all times
  • Measure and report KPI’s such as safety, quality, cost and productivity
  • A continued focus on cost reductions and optimizing the cost per gallon will be critical
  • Ensure all business systems, including ERP and procedures are in place and used accordingly.
  • Manage inventory under area of control
  • Work directly with QA and technical personnel on addressing and resolving deficiencies
  • Develop continuous improvement plans to for Safety, Hygiene/Sanitation, Quality, Quantity and Cost
  • Any other business operation related tasks deemed reasonable and reasonably requested by management
  • Mentor and train multiple department managers and supervisors to achieve objectives.

Required attributes

  • Ability to operate independently to conceptualize and drive initiatives forward
  • Positive attitude and motivated by contributing to the overall success of the team
  • Ability to run their own production site.
  • Leading teams of 100+ with multiple shifts.
  • Demonstrated experience in running a manufacturing operation.
  • Comfortable working with various support resources in R&D, Quality and Planning.
  • Action oriented individual who focuses on safety, housekeeping and improving productivity each month.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 10+ years of operations experience, 5 +years management experience in the food industry
  • Education- Four Year Degree – Engineering Degree preferred but not required
  • OSHA, HACCP, GMP trained, Lean manufacturing experience within a faced paced production environment
  • Strong proficiency with infrastructure and process requirements throughout the supply chain
  • Experience with scaling businesses with exacting customer standards
  • Proven margin improvement track record
  • Lean Green Belt a plus
  • Acquisitions experience a plus.
  • Bilingual a plus
