An industry leading agriculture company is seeking a Controller to join their Baja, MX team. This position will direct and control the financial functions of operations in that district by ensuring compliance of company group policies and procedures. Will act as a business partner leading projects and departments under command to generate continuous improvement of operational processes. Develop strategic business plans that maintain a profitable financial model, as well as collaborate closely with upper management in identifying areas of opportunity and defining commercial and business strategies, forecasts and economic perspectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Ensure the administration and understanding of the Business as well as identify operating needs to provide information that contributes to improving the business through proposals made to the Operation.
Establish analysis and ensure review of closing financial reports (Flash, Capex, WLK) consolidating explanations of future variations and expectations to the corporate area.
Perform the analysis that supports decision-making such as Production models with Growers, profitability, return rates based on reports raised by the area.
Control, analyze and review weekly harvest and non-harvest costs Vs. budget, analyzing variations and ensuring the accounting record.
Assess the operation and profitability of the business
Ensure the administration of records, cost centers and manage variations Vs. Budget-
Coordinate CAPEX’s exercise according to budgets and production needs-
Be responsible for the balance sheet accounts of the different company entities in Mexico ensuring compliance in a timely manner-
Lead and organize the functions of AR, Settlements Departments Inventory, GIS and costs, as well as assessing risks and opportunities in Mexico-
Establish and ensure costing procedures and estimates-
Act as the business partner with operations, managing operations in the different areas-
Conduct field visits with directors and operations managers to ensure that accounting information reflects the current situation of the operation and proposing areas of improvement-
Submit monthly financial statements to Operation of each area-
Act as liaison with the different areas of Finance providing information and explanations of the operation of the business-
Be responsible for operation follow-up and results to district partners-
Manage and ensure the determination of the cost of selling of the area on a monthly basis as well as review the expectations of results at the end of the season-
Establish cost definitions for Payroll staff, asset depreciations, prepayments, expense distribution codes, etc.-
Be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of the cost determination for each business unit and its variation against budget-
Evaluate the operation of the business that can generate low or no profitability and propose alternatives-
Develop policies and procedures as well as review and make adjustments or revisions-
Determine directional budgets for different commodities and review them with operational areas-
Generate CAPEX budgets in detail in conjunction with Operations, as well as provide analysis and explanations of the budget to the different areas-
Train, guide and support service areas in completing the relevant budgets-
Review budgets for each Project to ensure that no items are omitted-
Define the costing rules and processes for all company expenses and investments (Payroll, Asset Depreciation, Prepayments, Expense Distribution Codes, etc.)-

4- year degree in Accounting or related. MBA preferred.
9-10 years related experience
Agriculture experience preferred
