Director of Purchasing – Midwest

A well-established produce distributor is seeking a Director of Purchasing to join their team. The Director of Purchasing is responsible for purchasing products for our entire organization throughout the Midwest.
Position Responsibilities Include
Oversee day-to-day purchasing and procurement strategy and vision.
Provide day-to-day leadership for the purchasing team.
Manage a seamless purchase-to-pay system from sourcing through finished product, supporting a suite of six successful business units around the Midwest.
Manage and develop an overall vendor base, leveraging synergy for the highest quality ingredients and service.
Negotiate vendor contracts and execute purchase orders to support critical business needs.
Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels supporting on-time deliveries.
Establish and maximize KPI’s for department and staff.
Interview, hire, train, and mentor the purchasing team.
Work closely with the senior leadership team to drive down costs and improve efficiency.
Provide regular performance updates to the senior leadership team.
All other duties assigned.
Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related field or experience in lieu of degree.
4-6 years of experience in purchasing/procurement with a proven track record of advancement into leadership roles.
Experience executing on a purchasing strategy that has drastically improved gross margin.
Successful accomplishments of meeting cost reduction targets.
