Quality Assurance / Environmental Manager – California

An established Fresh-Cut produce organization is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance/Environmental Manager to join their operation located in CA. The Quality Assurance/ Environmental Manager will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting all food safety, quality, and regulatory programs. This position will also be responsible for defining the operational standards and expectations to achieve a food safety and quality culture as well as provide technical support for product development and assessment of new products.
Maintain and support all aspects of Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory programs (FSMA, HACCP, SOP, SSOP, Quality, Documentation, etc.).
Provide expertise and guidance in interpreting and implementing governmental regulations, agency guidelines and internal policies to ensure compliance.
Manage Quality Assurance expectations for suppliers including assessing data generated to ensure compliance to food safety and quality initiatives and communicate effectively while maintaining strong working relationships.
Troubleshoot or develop sustainable action plans to resolve any Food Safety, Quality or Compliance issues.
Assess data generated by suppliers to ensure compliance to food safety and quality initiatives.
Ensure that all products, processes, and facility areas are being evaluated. Assist with all 3rd party, customer, and regulatory audits.
Effectively communicate and maintain strong working relationships with all supplier and customer QA departments.
Interacts with State and County Environmental agencies and serves as plant’s spokesperson with on-site inspectors, explaining and providing information regarding plant’s efforts to comply with required specifications.
Oversee environmental programs, plans and procedures for compliance with Federal and State regulatory and permit requirements.
Responsible for developing and maintaining facility’s recycling programs.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field.
Minimum of five years of experience as director or manager of QA with a food company.
Experience with produce a plus.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically as needed.
Organizational skills including time management.
Excellent verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills (English and Spanish)
