Out Of Home Sales Representative – Remote Based

Terrific opportunity to join a technology platform for the produce industry and contribute firsthand to their ascending growth.  They seek an entrepreneurial business development salesperson to develop accounts with retail, wholesale, and foodservice companies.

This organization is leading the technology-based fresh produce trading sector with an innovative platform and strong partnerships.  A strong produce sales background, ability to develop and close accounts, and a skilled sales aptitude sought.

Position is remote from a home office.  Preferred locations are the Southeast, East, Midwest, Central states.

Position Responsibilities Include

  • Business development for new accounts, including prospecting and sourcing new customer leads, contacting, and closing.
  • Articulate new trading platform, sell benefits, work through long and short sales cycles.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with sales management, growers/suppliers, and customers to meet goals.
  • Keeping current with the in the Produce Industry in order to best capitalize on new opportunities.
  • Periodic visits to trade shows and customers when conditions allow.

Desired Attributes and Experience Include

  • A “hunter” mindset and ability to perform significant activity.  Previous successful sales experience in fresh produce.
  • Previous experience handling multiple commodities beneficial.
  • Strong experience/relationships working with domestic retail customers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interest in new technology, forward-thinking.
  • A highly motivated self-starter and a “closer” who is able to work under pressure but not willing to compromise on quality.

Additional Requirements Include

  • Able to use and learn produce trading software, Microsoft Office, internet-based sales and purchasing programs.
  • College degree (B.A., B.S.) in related fields of study or equivalent beneficial.
  • Commodity / Category Management experience can also be helpful.
