A well-established agriculture company is seeking a Senior Controller to join their team. The Senior Controller will be responsible for all accounting, financial, and risk management operations of the company. Responsible for managing all accounting and company controllership functions, staff and the execution of company accounting policies & procedures conforming to GAAP and State regulatory requirements. Responsible for accurate & timely preparation of financial statement & reporting. Responsible for developing and managing financial analytical tools for the business.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
Direct the day-to-day execution of the accounting department functions and processes.
Develop, manage and coordinate the Accounting/Finance team including AR, AP, Grower Accounting and Finance to ensure excellence in both the team performance and the tools utilized by the team.
Responsible for understanding and managing the General Ledger including the accuracy of financial transactions
Develop and enforce the Company’s accounting policies and procedures.
Serve as the company’s internal consultant on all relevant accounting matters.
Identify, analyze and implement appropriate systems and processes for financial controls.
Responsible for production of accurate and timely financial statements.
Coordinates the annual audit to produce a timely and efficient audit by the company’s independent auditors and timely preparation of tax returns.
Identify, develop and implement accounting process changes and improvements based on audit findings and/or best business practices.
Ensure adequate risk management policies are in place to protect the Company and renewed timely.
Other duties as assigned.
Planning and Analysis:
Lead the budget and reforecast cycles
Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
Develop financial and tax strategies
Develop and maintain performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction
Monitor and manage cash balances and cashflow forecasts
Lead contact with banks in managing relationship
Ensure adherence to loan agreements
Provide timely financial and covenant reporting to the bank

Qualifications and Abilities:
Accountable for results of the team; individual contributor as well as a team leader; develops people; sets the example
Minimum B.S. degree in Accounting. CPA strongly preferred;
Minimum of 5+ years managing an accounting team;
Must have well developed management and supervisory skills;
Must be highly skilled in the use and application of ERP computer systems, MS Excel and accounting policies and procedures;
Must be willing to identify opportunities to improve internal processes, develop & make recommendations and implement / execute decisions
