Software/Ag Tech Sales Manager – California

Exciting ground floor opportunity for a dynamic Sales Manager to develop new customers on the West Coast for an agtech startup with a solid growth trajectory. The ideal candidate will have extensive relationships with growers, packers, exporters, foodservice or retailers on the West Coast. These relationships have been forged by their value-added sales approach to increase sales and profitability.
Develop sales plan and strategic accounts within the West Coast food and agricultural industry.
Assist in the development and fine-tuning of our technology’s value-proposition and sell-in tools (presentations and sales support materials).
Implement and manage account-specific strategies to target new accounts and increase business in existing accounts. Diversify the customer base to include high volume, profitable accounts.
Identify new business opportunities to develop the products and programs to increase sales and profitability. Manage trade funds, sales growth, and profitability for major customers.
Contact potential customers and sources of new business and inform them of the products the company offers.
Using analytical and negotiation skills, manage all aspects of sales contracts, maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activity.
Maintain CRM details or the current customers and prospects.
Provide weekly field activity reports to supervisor highlighting account activities, opportunities, and successes.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5+ years of sales experience in food/agricultural industry.
Direct experience working with technology or software sales is critical.
Established network of growers, packers, brokers, retailers and foodservice customers.
Demonstrated natural curiosity with an interest in becoming a subject matter expert in AI tools to
grade and monitor the quality of agricultural commodities.
Experience working in a remote, unstructured and fast-paced sales environment.
Exposure to sales outreach techniques like list building, email campaigns, cold calling etc.
Travel up to 40-50% of the time to targeted locations.
Fluency in the English language is required. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, but are not required.
