West Coast Software/Ag Tech Sales Manager – California

Exciting ground floor opportunity for a dynamic Sales Manager to develop new customers on the West Coast for an agtech startup with a solid growth trajectory. The ideal candidate will have extensive relationships with growers, packers, exporters, foodservice or retailers on the West Coast. These relationships have been forged by their value-added sales approach to increase sales and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop sales plan and strategic accounts within the West Coast food and agricultural industry.
  • Assist in the development and fine-tuning of our technology’s value-proposition and sell-in tools (presentations and sales support materials).
  • Implement and manage account-specific strategies to target new accounts and increase business in existing accounts. Diversify the customer base to include high volume, profitable accounts.
  • Identify new business opportunities to develop the products and programs to increase sales and profitability. Manage trade funds, sales growth, and profitability for major customers.
  • Contact potential customers and sources of new business and inform them of the products the company offers.
  • Using analytical and negotiation skills, manage all aspects of sales contracts, maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activity.
  • Maintain CRM details or the current customers and prospects.
  • Provide weekly field activity reports to supervisor highlighting account activities, opportunities, and successes.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5+ years of sales experience in food/agricultural industry.
  • Direct experience working with technology or software sales is critical.
  • Established network of growers, packers, brokers, retailers and foodservice customers.
  • Demonstrated natural curiosity with an interest in becoming a subject matter expert in AI tools to

grade and monitor the quality of agricultural commodities.

  • Experience working in a remote, unstructured and fast-paced sales environment.
  • Exposure to sales outreach techniques like list building, email campaigns, cold calling etc.
  • Travel up to 40-50% of the time to targeted locations.
  • Fluency in the English language is required. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, but are not required.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, sales, and finance.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain high level of integrity
