West Coast Technical Account Manager – California

Summary:

This role will partner with our biggest distribution partner on the West Coast and across the country to strategically promote the product inside the customer’s portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Achieves sales targets by generating demand assuring technical and commercial expertise to the customer/organization’s key stakeholders.
  • Delivering specific technical support on all products (both branded and/or private labels) to the organization of the customer assigned.
  • Acts as a problem solver for technical customer inquiries.
  • Develops and implements quarterly business plans that include forecasting.
  • Organizes and executes the local commercial initiatives: managing demo trials, field days and local commercial activities according to the action plan developed with customers.
  • Leads the customer towards a deep understanding of products acting as a technical trainer to the key staff of the customer assigned.
  • Monitors market/customer/territory assigned and informs promptly the direct manager of any deviations from contractual agreements.
  • Collects market information on dealers, market, retail location, growers, prices etc. through the Company’s internal system.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required / Masters Degree preferred in Agriculture or ag related field
  • 3 years of experience in a Sales role in the Agribusiness industry (preferably in special fertilizer, plant nutrition, and/or biocontrol).
  • Should have experience interacting with both the technical and commercial staff distributor or inside distributor activity.
  • Good knowledge of the specific geographic territory assigned with vast experience or knowledge of key crops in the area.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of common agronomic crops and production practices common to the region assigned.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply scientific concepts and become an expert on our portfolio of products.
  • Ability to plan & organize activities, multi-task, and follow-through to accomplish goals.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude and possesses an outstanding work ethic.
  • Outstanding communication skills -effective verbal and written communicator of detailed product information and technical concepts to our customers, distributor/dealer accounts, agronomists, researchers, growers, etc. in a range of environments that include everything from large group presentations to one-on-one meetings.
  • Well-organized and a self-motivated individual that works well alone and with a team.
  • Proficient with computers and basic programs – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to assume other duties as assigned, flexibility & ability to handle change are imperative.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
