High quality, innovative crop protection company seeks a sales rep to cover the Northeast territory.  This important position will sell to distributors and develop relationships with growers throughout the Northeast across all fruit and vegetable crops.

This is a home-based position with travel throughout the region.  Ideal location for representative would be Pennsylvania; other states and locations considered.  Understanding of crop protection chemicals and a consultative selling approach sought.  Potential relocation to the region could be considered.

Responsibilities include:

Promotion of company products to achieve or exceed sales and profit budget by applying knowledge of agricultural science, IPM, and the ag-chem retail distribution business. The successful candidate will make in person, phone, and email contact throughout assigned territory with distributors and growers.  Contact will also be achieved through attendance at events such as trade shows, key account meetings and association meetings (when conditions allow). Perform efficient scheduling, recordkeeping and budgeting administrative skills to will help drive success.

Distributors and growers appreciate the consultative abilities of the company’s sales reps.  The successful candidate will be able to learn and convey product use information. In addition to providing product use guidance, reps are expected to fully implement customer incentive programs developed by the marketing department. Company reps also work with commodity groups, key influencers, university extensions, and internal departments in order to facilitate and identify new uses and needs for company products.
We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications and attributes: 

  • BA or BS degree in related field of study, agriculture preferred. Masters degree is a plus.
  • Current New York State Applicator License or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience (preferably as a manufacturer’s rep).
  • Experience with fruits, vegetables, TNV, potatoes preferred.
  • Understanding of the agricultural chemical retail distribution business.
  • Knowledge of key pest management, agronomic, and cultural practices for crops.
  • Strong organization skills to maximize communications with distributors and growers.
  • Discipline to maintain records and sales activity reporting through SalesForce.com.
  • The ability to travel overnight up to 60% to 80% as needed during meeting and product use season.
  • Computer skills including MS Office, Power Point, and Excel.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
